Dr. Semerjian’s research interests include emerging contaminants in environmental compartments, environmental pollution control, water quality, water/wastewater treatment and reuse, human health risk assessment, environmental risk assessment, and environmental sustainability. Dr. Hatem Abushammala, a Associate Professor of Environmental Health & Safety & College Coordinator at Abu Dhabi University. Before joining Abu Dhabi University, Dr. Abushammala was the Wilhelm-Klauditz research fellow at the Fraunhofer Institute (WKI).

Ayah Raed Hasan is a Senior Sustainability Analyst at ADNOC Distribution. Ayah's role involves driving sustainability by integrating the ESG Concept across the company, developing plans, ESG reporting as per international standards, leading the conversion of the existing term loan into a Sustainability Linked Loan integrating key sustainability KPIs and aligning its financing objectives with its decarbonization target.

Sandra Knuteson focusses on environmental (ENV) sustainability through the management, monitoring and assessment of ENV impacts. This leads to teaching and research in a broad range of topics, from monitoring of pollutants and trends in local ecosystems of water sediment and organisms to the idea of ENV management and sustainability in industry, currently in education and tourism. Dr. Rahaf Ajaj is an Associate Professor of Environmental Health and Safety at Abu Dhabi University and the Head of the UAE Chapter for Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) Canada. She brings over two decades of interdisciplinary expertise in radiation protection, environmental health, occupational safety, and climate change. Dr. Ajaj is a Chartered Scientist (CSci) and a Principal Fellow of Advance HE (PFHEA).

Before moving to academia, Dr. Ajaj worked as a Health Physicist and Inspector at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) in the UAE, where she was responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance in the medical and industrial sectors. Additionally, she served as an HSE Coordinator at the Supreme Petroleum Council, supporting operations within the ADNOC group.

Her research focuses on radiation protection technologies, environmental sciences, sustainability, and climate change adaptation, and she has published numerous papers in reputable journals. Dr. Ajaj is also a Research Cluster Lead for the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, a member of the UN High-Level Advisory Board, and the UAE Chapter Leader for Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) Canada.

As a dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Ajaj actively advocates for women in STEM fields and promotes evidence-based environmental policy both regionally and internationally.

Ali Abdulla has amassed over 37 years of vast experience in the oil and gas industry, having served in diverse roles and taken on various responsibilities.

He commenced his career with American Oil Company in 1987. Subsequently, he joined BP and held several positions, including Integrity Manager, Y2K Manager, Marine LPG and Condensate Terminal Manager, and HSSE Manager until 2010.

Ali then moved to Petrofac Middle East, North Africa, and the Commonwealth Independent States, where he served as Corporate HSSEIA Manager and eventually became Regional VP of HSSEIA.

In 2018, Ali was appointed Senior Vice President of HSSEIA for Petrofac's global Engineering & Construction division, and in June 2020, he assumed the position of UAE Country Chair. In this capacity, he oversees Petrofac teams in existing and new EPC projects, supports renewable energy projects, and operation/maintenance services.
