Dr. Lucy Semerjian (PhD Environmental Sciences, University of Bradford, UK; MSc Environmental Science and Technology, American University of Beirut, Lebanon) has been actively engaged in higher education academia and research for more than 25 years. Currently, Dr Semerjian is an Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Technology at the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, University of Sharjah (UoS), United Arab Emirates, where she also served as the Chairperson from 2017-2025. Before joining UoS, Dr. Semerjian has served in academic and research positions at the Environmental Engineering Research Center, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon (1994-2013).

Dr. Semerjian’s research interests include emerging contaminants in environmental compartments, environmental pollution control, water quality, water/wastewater treatment and reuse, human health risk assessment, environmental risk assessment, and environmental sustainability. She is a member of the Environmental Resources Conservation & Protection Research Group at UoS Research Institute for Science and Engineering. Dr. Semerjian has numerous publications in reputable international journals and conference proceedings and is a member of International Water Association (UK) and Water Environment Federation (USA). She is the recipient of several research grants, as well as academic and research awards and recognitions, including the 2019 Sharjah Islamic Bank Award for Distinguished Faculty Research.

Dr. Semerjian is a Certified Reviewer for the UAE Ministry of, and also serves as Associate Editor in Water Research, and Review Editor in Frontiers in Public Health, Frontiers in Environmental Science, and Frontiers in Microbiology. Dr. Hatem Abushammala, a Associate Professor of Environmental Health & Safety & College Coordinator at Abu Dhabi University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Environment and Natural Resources in 2015 from the University of Freiburg in Germany. Before joining Abu Dhabi University, Dr. Abushammala was the Wilhelm-Klauditz research fellow at the Fraunhofer Institute (WKI).

Ayah Raed Hasan is a Senior Sustainability Analyst at ADNOC Distribution. Steve Young is the manager of SNOC’s maintenance team. He began his career in 1998 as a field service engineer with Schlumberger’s electrical submersible pump division. Dr. Alya Al Quraidi, is a PhD holder in Engineering Systems Management from American University of Sharjah (AUS), a PMP certified professional, and a member of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) with 8 years’ experience in the infrastructure sector. She was the operations manager of wastewater treatment plants in the city of Sharjah under Sharjah Municipality.

Currently, she is the head of standards, and training and awareness sections in Sharjah Prevention & Safety Authority (SPSA), spearheading the development of a world-wide recognized Occupational Health & Safety in the emirates of Sharjah. Founder and CEO, Asset Integrity Engineering (AIE)

Neil Flemming is the Founder and CEO of Asset Integrity Engineering (AIE), headquartered in Sharjah. AIE currently supports a global client base in the integrity management of assets producing over 3 million barrels of oil per day equivalent.

Sandra Knuteson focusses on environmental (ENV) sustainability through the management, monitoring and assessment of ENV impacts. This leads to teaching and research in a broad range of topics, from monitoring of pollutants and trends in local ecosystems of water sediment and organisms to the idea of ENV management and sustainability in industry, currently in education and tourism.
